Jazwares launch their Star Wars Micro Galaxy Squadrons line of scaled Starships

Writer's picture: MephitsuMephitsu

Over the years there have been some great and affordable Star Wars Starships released from the likes of Hasbro and Mattel, via the Hot Wheels line. One thing that always bugged me though was the scale with the Millenium Falcon always the same general size as an X-Wing or a Tie Fighter.

Jazwares are about to break that mold with their new Star Wars Micro Galaxy Squadrons line as announced today via Yahoo. The new line features correctly scaled Starships along with Micro figures of their crew. These do remain kid-focused rather than collector items, so while the scaled approach is great some of the releases do feature quite clunky stands or landing gear.

The largest ship at launch is the Millenium Falcon, complete with figures of Han, Chewie, Leia, and Obi-Wan Kenobi. It features a removable cockpit and cargo bay panels and also includes both lights and sounds FX. The Falcon is an Assault Class release and has a US retail price of $44.99

Make the jump to lightspeed with the Star Wars Micro Galaxy Squadron Millennium Falcon. Featuring incredible details and authentic scaling, this legendary Corellian™ freighter is the absolute centerpiece of any Rebel fleet. This iconic vehicle is loaded with features including: opening cockpit, rotating cannons, retractable landing gear, light up thrusters, motion activated sounds (batteries not included), and much more. Vehicle also includes articulated 1-inch Han Solo™, Chewbacca™, Princess Leia™, and Obi-Wan Kenobi™ micro figures, compatible with any Star Wars Micro Galaxy Squadron craft. Collect the entire Star Wars Micro Galaxy Squadron vehicles and fortify your fleet.

The next class down is the Starship Class and in here we can look forward to Boba Fett's Starship (Slave-1 to everyone else) with figures of Boba Fett and Fennec Shand. There will also be two version of The Razor Crest, one with Mando, Greef Karga and Grogu - the other from Arvala-7 and including Mando, Kuiil and a Jawa. The Starship Class releases are priced at $29.99 and to give you an idea of size, the Razor Crest will measure 7-inches long.

Hunt bounties across the outer rim with the Star Wars Micro Galaxy Squadron Razor Crest. Featuring incredible details and authentic scaling, this 7-inch pre-Empire assault craft is Mandalorian DIN DJARIN’s preferred ship. Pursue any guild bounty with an opening cockpit, side door, and a rear boarding ramp, removable roof, engine and side panels, carbon freezing chamber with MYTHROL carbonite block, detailed armory, and retractable landing gear. Vehicle also includes articulated 1-inch Mandalorian, Greef Karga, and Grogu micro figures–– compatible with any Star Wars Micro Galaxy Squadron craft. Collect the Razor Crest, along with other Star Wars Micro Galaxy Squadron vehicles, and fortify your fleet! (Each sold separately and subject to availability.)

Moving down a size to the Transport Class and the launch release here is the Imperial Transport created as part of the original Kenner Toy line and since canonized in both Rebels and The Mandalorian. The Transport Class is $22.99

We then move to the Starfighter Class which will include the iconic X-Wing, Darth Vader's Tie Fighter, Moff Gideon's Tie Fighter, and a Jedi Starfighter. These will set you back $16.99 and each includes a relevant pilot.

For $12.99 you can pick up a Light Armor Class release that features standard Tie Fighters as well as both a standard and Raiders version of the AT-ST and Asaaj Ventress' Ginivex Starfighter.

The final size is the Scout Class which sounds like blind-bagged releases. These feature speeders such as the Imperial Speeder from Endor. We assume that these will feature different riders from the Scout Troopers to Luke & Leia and perhaps even an Ewok.

The sets are looking at an August release in the US, but there is no details as yet for a UK release - but it seems likely they will be picked up by the likes of Smyths and perhaps some of the Supermarkets.

About Me : As a child of the '70s and '80s I grew up in a golden age for action figures and in my youth bought and sold myself through collections of Star Wars, G.I. Joe (Action Force), and M.A.S.K. while also dabbling in He-Man, Transformers and Ghostbusters. Roll forward and I am now reliving that Youth with the action figures of today and am a collector and fan of the larger 6-8 inch figures from my favourite movie and TV licenses - including the ones mentioned above, but also the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Who, and the Aliens. I launched The Mephitsu Archives in 2015 with a view of creating a UK-focused site or these figures where fans can pick up the latest action figure news, read reviews and get information on where to buy their figures and what is currently on store shelves. I hope I am delivering that to you guys...
