Mattel SDCC 2019 "The Strange Lives of Batman" Exclusive 4 Pack

Writer's picture: MephitsuMephitsu

Mattel are exiting the DC licence with style with the announcement, via io9, of this San Diego Comic Con Exclusive for 2019. Before the licence moves to McFarlane in 2020, Mattel will help celebrate Batman's 80th Anniversary with this Silver Age Themed pack of 6 inch Multiverse Batman figures.

Each Batman is based on an out-there costume sported in one of the Detective Comics. We have Negative Suit Batman from issue 284, Rainbow Batman from 241, Zebra Batman from 275 and a traditional Batman in blue and grey. The set will be sold at SDCC 2019 via the Mattel booth. A pre-order will also start on June 17th where you can place an order for the set for delivery after SDCC 2019 (we assume this is US only).

"If you’re a fan of Mattel’s DC action figures, though, the other offering might be more tempting. A celebration of Batman’s Silver Age roots in the comics, the four-figure set gives you four remarkably silly renditions of Bruce Wayne’s early comic book adventures. Clad in a special, old-school comic art themed box—80-page Giant Batman is a great little throwback joke!—the four figures feature 23 points of articulation, and each one is clad in a colour scheme representing a specific story from the Silver Age of Comics."
