McFarlane has just shared this post on their social feeds announcing the launch of a 'Collector Edition' Series of McFarlane action figures. There is a lack of detail at this time other than we can look forward to Summer 2023 which is when this new program launches.
McFarlane has released 'Collector Edition' figures in the past circa 2008-2009 and these were a cross between figures and statues posed in an appropriate scene. At the time these spanned a number of the McFarlane licenses.
We await more details, but considering McFarlane has already brought back Dragons and Movie Maniacs very recently, this Collector Edition series is very much a modern day revamp of the old format.
My assumption at this stage is that this will sit alongside the McFarlane main lines but at a more premium price point - maybe even crowdfunded (HasLab-esque) or pre-order prior to production (Super7) framework. The comment around 'desired universe' indicates the Collector Edition figures will cross some or all of the current McFarane licenses.
McFARLANE COLLECTOR EDITION brings to market character driven action figures designed and produced exclusively for the core collector.
With a special focus on a rich and diverse catalog of characters, McFARLANE COLLECTOR EDITION allows the most dedicated fans to complete their desired universe.
