Writer's picture: MephitsuMephitsu

McFarlane nex set of DC Direct figures, is a Digital wave, or as they are now calling them Phygital releases. This means they are physical figures, but with a digital build a figure of Animal Man if you buy all three.

The new figures are The Atom from DC: The Silver Age, Superman from Our Worlds at War, and Green Arrow from Longbow Hunter. The wave opens for pre-order as of the 23rd of May 2024 with the figures shipping in late July 2024.

Superman will come with an Eagle as well as alternative hands. The Atom features a smaller mini-Atom figure as well as alternative hands for the main figure. Green Arrow comes with his bow, an arrow, and a larger cluster of arrows. All of the figures come with a display base, collector card, and a digital code.

The Man of Steel is not impervious to harm. He is weakened and will eventually die if exposed to Kryptonite - radioactive remnants of his old homeworld. He has no defense against magic and his mind will succumb to sufficient psionic assault, but his real vulnerability is his dependence on yellow solar radiation. Deprived of it, he becomes a mere mortal.

Ray Palmer is science liaison to S.H.A.D.E. and a hero in his own right as the Atom. He is also the creator of the Ant Farm, a pioneer in miniaturization technology, and a recent welcome addition to the Justice League of America.

Oliver Queen is the Green Arrow - a hero who uses his skills as an expert archer to bring justice to the streets of Seattle. Son of billionaire industrialist Robert Queen, Oliver wasted his younger years as a playboy before a terrorist attack left him stranded on an island where he was forced to use his skills to survive. After three years, he returned home a changed man, determined to be something new; something better. Facing assassins and superpowered villains while dealing with secrets from his own family’s past, the Green Arrow is determined to bring justice to the streets of his city, one arrow at a time.

About Me : As a child of the '70s and '80s I grew up in a golden age for action figures and in my youth bought and sold myself through collections of Star Wars, G.I. Joe (Action Force), and M.A.S.K. while also dabbling in He-Man, Transformers and Ghostbusters. Roll forward and I am now reliving that Youth with the action figures of today and am a collector and fan of the larger 6-8 inch figures from my favourite movie and TV licenses - including the ones mentioned above, but also the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Who, and the Aliens. I launched The Mephitsu Archives in 2015 with a view of creating a UK-focused site or these figures where fans can pick up the latest action figure news, read reviews and get information on where to buy their figures and what is currently on store shelves. I hope I am delivering that to you guys...
