McFarlane DC Multiverse Platinum Edition releases of Cyborg Superman, Reverse Flash, Sportsmaster, and Manhunters

McFarlane has launched a set of four new DC Multiverse Platinum Edition figures on their website and under one of their EQL Run Fair draws allowing you to enter a draw for a chance to purchase the figure.

The four figures include Cyborg Superman and Reverse Flash from New 52, DC Classics Sportsmaster, and Manhunters from Green Lantern Corps. While Cyborg Superman appears to be a variant of the standard release from earlier in 2024, the other three appear to be pretty much new releases - but the fact that these are immediate Chase releases will make them particularly difficult to obtain for collectors.

You can keep track of all the DC Multiverse releases at our McFarlane Collector Database

After Flashpoint, Superman's uncle Zor-El, escaped Krypton's destruction, thanks to Collector of Worlds Brainiac. Subjected to cybernetic augmentations that deranged his personality, Zor-El became Cyborg Superman, Brainiac's scout for a stronger species in the universe. He attempted to conquer Earth, battling Superman and his own daughter Kara Zor-El, but somehow escaped the black hole doom that befell Brainiac. Also surviving the Rebirth event, Cyborg Superman reanimated the dead Krytponians of Argo City and again attacked Earth, only to be defeated by Supergirl and Superman.

Like The Flash, Daniel West gained his amazing powers of speed following an accident. However, unlike his nemesis, West became the Reverse-Flash, using his powers for his own selfish needs. The speedster cared little for those who had to die to help him accomplish his ultimate goal—to use the Speed Force to alter his own past.

Lawrence Crock™ could turn his hand to any sport, but his obsession with winning saw him cripple a football player, ending his professional career. Instead, he turned to crime, attempting to rob a polo match, before adopting a costumed identity: Sportsmaster. Crock joined the Injustice Society™ and struck up a fruitful partnership—criminal and romantic—with Huntress (originally Tigress™).

The Manhunters were constructed by the Guardians of Oa billions of years ago as their first attempt to police the Universe. When the robots’ programming was corrupted by the renegade Oan, Krona, the units developed emotions—especially pride and arrogance—and mutinied. After they eradicated life in Sector 666, most Manhunters were scrapped, but many escaped and went into hiding.

About Me : As a child of the '70s and '80s I grew up in a golden age for action figures and in my youth bought and sold myself through collections of Star Wars, G.I. Joe (Action Force), and M.A.S.K. while also dabbling in He-Man, Transformers and Ghostbusters. Roll forward and I am now reliving that Youth with the action figures of today and am a collector and fan of the larger 6-8 inch figures from my favourite movie and TV licenses - including the ones mentioned above, but also the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Who, and the Aliens. I launched The Mephitsu Archives in 2015 with a view of creating a UK-focused site or these figures where fans can pick up the latest action figure news, read reviews and get information on where to buy their figures and what is currently on store shelves. I hope I am delivering that to you guys...
