Earlier this year, Todd McFarlane unveiled his new 'Page Punchers' line, a series of limited articulation 4-inch figures that would each be packed with a comic book. It seems the McFarlane team are now extending this format to a 7-inch scale 'Page Punchers' series and this new line will kick off with a Black Adam-themed wave of four figures.
The launch wave will feature a new Black Adam figure, Batman, Superman, and John Constantine. They will each come with an exclusive Black Adam comic, we assume the comics will be different with each figure and are part of a wider serial - although the covers all appear identical.
The figures are packed under the DC Direct badge, not the standard DC Multiverse line, but they look to include the same level of articulation and also feature the same circular display base and collectible card. Accessories include batarangs for Batman, a flight stand for Superman, a magic book and effect for Constantine, and a pair of green lightning effects for Black Adam. The price point is $24.99 in the US, which will likely translate to circa £22-£25 in the UK. The figures are due for an August 2022 release.
Centuries ago, the same wizard that granted Billy Batson the powers of Shazam!, bestowed mystical powers upon a pure-of-heart youth in ancient Egypt. But when the boy tried to share his power to save his dying uncle, his uncle stole it and became the legendary Super-Villain known as Black Adam! Black Adam has the same magical abilities as his Super Hero nemesis, Shazam!, but Adam's powers come from the Egyptian gods. Shu grants him stamina; Heru, speed; Amon, strength; Zehuti, wisdom; Aton, power; and Mehen, courage. Black Adam can also fly and is virtually invincible.
As a child, Bruce Wayne watched as his parents were brutally killed in Gotham City’s Crime Alley. Traumatized by their deaths, he devoted his life to becoming the world’s greatest weapon against crime – the Batman! To become the ultimate vigilante, the Dark Knight disciplined his mind and body to reach the pinnacle of mental and physical superiority in his relentless pursuit of justice!
Sent to Earth from the dying planet of Krypton as a baby, Kal-El was found by farmers, Martha and Jonathan Kent, and raised as their son, Clark. As Clark grew up, the radiation from Earth's yellow sun gave him enhanced senses and extraordinary powers, including super-strength, super-speed, heat vision, X-ray vision, super-hearing, super-breath, and flight. Now, fully grown, he uses his powers to protect his adopted world as Superman.
John Constantine wields the dark arts to save his soul, as well as the earth itself. An expert sorcerer and magician, Constantine isn't known for his glowing personality, but when it comes to the occult, he's the best investigator there is. A notorious man with skeletons in his closet, Constantine's moral compass is as gray as can be, but deep down, he wants to do the right thing. His abilities have afforded him the opportunity not only to cheat death, but to trick the forces that govern the afterlife… meaning he has no shortage of powerful enemies.

About Me : As a child of the '70s and '80s I grew up in a golden age for action figures and in my youth bought and sold myself through collections of Star Wars, G.I. Joe (Action Force), and M.A.S.K. while also dabbling in He-Man, Transformers and Ghostbusters. Roll forward and I am now reliving that Youth with the action figures of today and am a collector and fan of the larger 6-8 inch figures from my favourite movie and TV licenses - including the ones mentioned above, but also the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Who, and the Aliens. I launched The Mephitsu Archives in 2015 with a view of creating a UK-focused site or these figures where fans can pick up the latest action figure news, read reviews and get information on where to buy their figures and what is currently on store shelves. I hope I am delivering that to you guys...
