The second wave of Princess Bride figures have been revealed by McFarlane Toys. The wave includes four standard releases and another Megafig release of Fezzik.
The wave follows the usual McFarlane approach with most of the wave being tweaks or repaints of previously released figures. Inigo Montoya has a tweaked angrier head sculpt and is repainted as a 'bloodied' variant. The Westley / Dread Pirate Roberts gets a 'bloodied' paint job across his shoulder as well as a head update so he is now unmasked.
Princess Buttercup is updated and now presented in her blue wedding dress, she has a tiara added to the head sculpt as well as a new torso piece and lower soft goods. The Fezzik Megafig also looks like it has a new tweaked head sculpt and he gains a soft good cloak (and loses his peanut and rock accessories). The only 'new' addition is Vizzini, who comes with two goblets.
All five figures are now live for pre-order and have a May 2022 release date.
"Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya; you killed my father; prepare to die." This phrase that Inigo practices repeatedly for his ultimate encounter with Count Rugen completely sums up his motivation throughout the story. We learn in a flashback to his childhood that he had adored his father, a great swordmaker, who had created as his magnum opus a glittering sword for the six- fingered count. The Count returned, was displeased with the product and refused to pay the price he had originally offered, and then in a fit of anger he killed Inigo's father, shattering young Inigo's life. Inigo spends the rest of his childhood and young adulthood mastering the sword, and ultimately becomes a wizard, the highest ranked swordsman in the world. Having achieved this and still not found the Count, he lapsed into depression and alcoholism, and came out of it only when Vizzini recruited him to assist in his criminal organization. He fears losing his purpose again, and therefore he remains faithfully with Vizzini.

"The only thing known concerning the Dread Pirate Roberts is that he never leaves captives alive. It is revealed during the course of the story that Roberts is not one man, but a series of individuals who periodically pass the name and reputation to a chosen successor. Everyone except the successor is then released at a convenient port, a new crew hired, and the former Roberts stays aboard as first mate. The constant reference to ""Captain Roberts"" establishes the new Roberts' persona. After the crew is convinced, the former Roberts leaves the ship and retires on his earnings. However this iteration of Dread Pirate Roberts is really Westley, who inhereted the title after the previous Dread Pirate Roberts retired. Westley had grown close to his predecessor after he was catured while searching for his fortune to return to Buttercup. In an attempt to help him achieve this goal the Previous Dread Pirate thought this position would help Westley achieve his goal."

The Sicilian criminal, bully, and mastermind employed by Prince Humperdinck to kidnap Buttercup and kill her, leaving evidence to frame Guilder of the murder so that Humperdinck can declare war. Short of stature and temper, and often shouts "Inconceivable!" when frustrated. He can be bossy and is rather narcissistic, believing himself far more intelligent than everyone he meets.

Fezzik, the giant was employed by Vizzini. He doesn't have a problem with subverting the law, but doesn't like to fight dirty. He is friends with Inigo; the two like to play rhyming games with one another from time-to-time at the ire of their employer. Fezzik is very tall and big so at a very young age, his parents made him fight competitively. He is from Turkey, but met Vizzini in Greenland where he was unemployed.

About Me : As a child of the '70s and '80s I grew up in a golden age for action figures and in my youth bought and sold myself through collections of Star Wars, G.I. Joe (Action Force), and M.A.S.K. while also dabbling in He-Man, Transformers and Ghostbusters. Roll forward and I am now reliving that Youth with the action figures of today and am a collector and fan of the larger 6-8 inch figures from my favourite movie and TV licenses - including the ones mentioned above, but also the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Who, and the Aliens. I launched The Mephitsu Archives in 2015 with a view of creating a UK-focused site or these figures where fans can pick up the latest action figure news, read reviews and get information on where to buy their figures and what is currently on store shelves. I hope I am delivering that to you guys...
