NYCC 2024: Todd McFarlane and the World of Toys Panel Reveals

The Todd McFarlane Toys Multiverse Panel at NYCC 2024 had Todd reveal a number of new exciting figures and licenses. This is a text-only update - there are no press pictures as yet, but check out Preternia who covered the event live in NYCC

DC Multiverse vs Monsterverse

One of the most eye-catching was a crossover between the DC Multiverse and the MonsterVerse with the Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong and a plan to have DC characters facing off against the likes of Kong and Godzilla. The first set is Batman vs Kong, and Todd had the Kong figure to show off, dwarfing the Batman being released alongside it.

The Movie Maniacs line will focus on Beetlejuice with the next releases that feature Astrid and Bob. And then they will move to the new Red One movie starring The Rock and Chris Evans with figures of Nick, Callum Drift, and Krampus. These single releases will be joined by a Jack O'Malley vs Snowman deluxe pack. And an Amazon exclusive 4-pack featuring variants of Nick, Callum Drift, and Krampus - and an exclusive ELF (Polar Bear).

Marvel Statues

The McFarlane team are continuing to go heavy on the Marvel statues with previews shown for Thor, Spider-Man, Sam Wilson Captain America, Cyclops, Daredevil, and Storm.

DC Multiverse

The DC Multiverse 7-inch line came next and confirmation that the Platinum Edition will split into two categories. The silver Platinum line will be a variant of the main release, and a new Red Platinum line will feature brand-new characters. The panel showed off new figures of Orion, Wildcat, Aqualad, and Superman. And there is a build-a-wave of Aquaman, Flash, Batman, and Superman - all with a Darkseid BAF figure to build if you buy all four.

There will be a 12-inch tall MegaFig red Swamp Thing on the way. And a Batman & Robin movie Batmobile with Batman.

A new Target Exclusive Collector Edition figure of Geoforce was shown alongside the recently pre-ordered figures of Grid, Simon Baz Green Lantern, Lightning Lad, and Mr Terrific. And into 2025 the Collector Edition continues to grow with Captain Cold, Power Girl, and Guy Gardner Green Lantern

Back to Winter 2024 and there is a new 2-Pack of Thomas Wayne Batman and Zoom.

Batman: The Animated Series & Super Powers

Switching to 6-inch Batman The Animated Series, and confirmation that the wave of Batman, Bane, Poison Ivy, Phantasm and the Bruce Wayne build-a-figure is still happening but it will now be Spring 2025.

And in the Super Powers series we can look forward to new figures of Lobo, Robin, The Atom, unmasked Batman, and Superman in the regeneration suit.

About Me : As a child of the '70s and '80s I grew up in a golden age for action figures and in my youth bought and sold myself through collections of Star Wars, G.I. Joe (Action Force), and M.A.S.K. while also dabbling in He-Man, Transformers and Ghostbusters. Roll forward and I am now reliving that Youth with the action figures of today and am a collector and fan of the larger 6-8 inch figures from my favourite movie and TV licenses - including the ones mentioned above, but also the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Who, and the Aliens. I launched The Mephitsu Archives in 2015 with a view of creating a UK-focused site or these figures where fans can pick up the latest action figure news, read reviews and get information on where to buy their figures and what is currently on store shelves. I hope I am delivering that to you guys...
