"It's unwise to insult a Wookiee's cooking."
The first, and so far only, Deluxe release for the Star Wars Black Series Galaxy Collection Acolyte series was the Wookiee Jedi Master Kelnacca. Kelnacca was a stand-alone Deluxe release in April 2025 and is the 9th figure in the Acolyte series. He utilises the wider Deluxe box but the same base matt black colour scheme and deep red accent colour as seen on the other Acolyte releases. This colour scheme extends to the side art, where Kelnacca is seen holding his lightsaber in front of him. The artwork connects to Bazil, who is incorrectly numbered as 7 in the line but sits in the 8th position in the wider montage between Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh and Master Kelnacca.
The rear of the box has a repeated view of the side art and a short piece of background text confirming Kelnacca’s isolation on Khofar and the mysterious reasons surrounding it. The backing card in the box is the same red as the other coloured panels but features an embedded image of the Kohfar forest to the top, so is visible behind Kelnacca’s head.
The Jedi Master is a new sculpt, revisiting the existing Wookiee parts with newly sculpted arms and legs with furred detail and cast in a brown plastic. Variations in the brown tones work with the depth of the fur sculpt to create a more lifelike appearance with fully painted detailing on the hands and feet where the skin is exposed although they use the same base grey/brown for both the palms of the hands, base of the feet, and the finger & toe nails. Over the sculpted body, Kelnacca wears a High Republic era Jedi tunic using the same yellow and beige tones we saw worn by Yord Fandar, Jecki Lon, and Master Sol. The upper chest piece is a rubberised sleeve over a generic torso, while the belt and skit section are a softer rubber seated over the Wookiee’s waist. The belt features the bulk of the figures' other decor with a gold Jedi Order emblem buckle and various rivets picked out in the same gold.
Heightwise, Kelnacca is reported as standing 2.29m tall. The figure stands 18.5cm (7.25 inches) tall, which is more or less right when scaled up from the Black Series 1:12 scale. Kelnacca dwards the other Acolyte figures like Master Indara (seen below) and is comparable in height to Chewbacca as seen in the other comparison image to the Return of the Jedi Chewbacca who shades it slightly by a few mm.
The headsculpt is new and mirrors Kelnacca as we see him during the flashback scenes to the mission on Brendok. This includes the sculpted facial features of actor Joonas Suotamo in costume and prosthetics. This includes photo printed eyes and teeth and the darker black of the Wookiee nose. We also have braided beads in the beard and a pulled-back top knot of hair fastened with a similar dark coloured tie. Kelnacca also features his head tattoos in a grey colouring to either side of the head, with further braided and beaded hair detail running down the back of the head and shaped over the back and shoulders.
Kelnacca, like all of the released Acolyte Jedi, also features a soft goods tailored outer robe. This is a brown fabric with a light feel, but one that flows reasonably well when posed - partly due to the tailoring to stitch back the hood into a fixed position and similar stitching around the sleeves and under the arms. The cape works as well as any we’ve had to date in the Black Series and hangs naturally on the larger frame, although it has a tendency to slip down the arms. It can be removed, and Kelnacca’s Jedi robes are fully sculpted and painted beneath for a secondary look.
Our Wookiee Jedi Master comes with his lightsaber, an enormous piece that is made up of a golden cast hilt and a large translucent green blade. The hilt, cast in a soft gold plastic, features some darker metallic brown details around the base and the emitter - but these look sloppy in their application, and other visible sculpted detail has gone unpainted. The saber hilt features a short peg to its base, which fits into a socket on the right side of Kelnacca’s belt for a slung position.
The blade is straight and true on arrival and slots in and out of the emiter with an audible click. The weapon can then be wielded in eitehr hand, or in both with sufficient range in the arm articulation to bring both massive arms to bear in a two handed position.
This articulation totals 16 points in total, all worked into the sculpted fur to maintain the overall look of the figure. This does mean some restriction in movement with the ankle and wrist joints held slightly in check by the overhanging fur. The head suffers more with the large Wookiee beard section and rear-flowing hair pretty much locking the entire head into a single forward-facing position. The legs work with the softer plastic skirt and can achieve relatively expansive positions for fighting stances. The arms, as mentioned, are enhanced with butterfly shoulders, allowing a good range of motion for single and two-handed light saber poses.
All in all, Kelneacca is an impressive figure both in looks but also in the execution of his articulation and certainly a big enhancement on Wookiee bodies and articulation that may bode well in the future for an updated Chewbacca. The soft goods work really well considering their limitations at 1/12 scale, and they hang naturally off the larger Wookiee frame while moving with and enhancing the articulation as you pose Kelnacca for display. The lightsaber is one of the biggest in the line to date and fits snugly into either hand, both hands, or slung on his belt. The only criticism of the figure is perhaps the Deluxe status with previous Chewbacca figures coming as a standard release. For Kelnacca, the added value is there in the robes and soft goods, but the RRP of £33 here in the UK and the feelings towards The Acolyte as a whole may see this one struggle.

About Me : As a child of the 70's and 80's I grew up in a golden age for action figures and in my youth bought and sold myself through collections of Star Wars, G.I. Joe (Action Force) and M.A.S.K. while also dabbling in He-Man, Transformers and Ghostbusters. Roll forward and I am now reliving that Youth with the action figures of today and am a collector and fan of the larger 6-8 inch figures from my favourite movie and TV licences - including the ones mentioned above, but also the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Who and the Aliens. I launched The Mephitsu Archives in 2015 with a view of creating a UK focused site or these figures where fans can pick up the latest action figure news, read reviews and get information on where to buy their figures and what is currently on store shelves. I hope I am delivering that to you guys...
