As we enter the final few weeks of the Hasbro Star Wars Black Series HasLab Rancor project, the Hasbro Star Wars team held a Fan First Friday live-stream to reveal the painted Rancor figure as well as revealing the final two stretch tiers.
As a reminder, the Rancor requires 9,000 backers to get made, and ahead of the live stream, we were sat at 5,100.
Star Wars™: The Black Series Rancor™ Figure with an arm span of 42 inches (106.68 cm) from talon to talon, a height of 17.5 inches (44.45 cm), and the ability to extend to be 27 inches tall (68.58 cm) with arms raised up. This figure has over 45 points of articulation, more than The Black Series 29-point standard!
Help us defeat the Rancor – you’re our only hope!

The first stretch goal at 11,000 backers is a 6-inch Gamorrean Guard repacked onto an exclusive POTF card with collectors coin. The second tier at 13,500 backers is a set of diorama skulls and bones as well as a cardboard backing piece.
The project to this point has been criticised by some fans on value for money and the tiers themselves, so Hasbro needed to wow fans with the final two-tier bonuses to move the project forward. Many collectors were holding off for the announcement of a Malakili Rancor Keeper figure - a logical choice for the project - and perhaps an Oola figure.
Instead, Tier 3 and 4 are two repacks of existing figures from the Black Series line. We will get a Salacious Crumb (recently repacked in a Disney Parks set) on a VIntage card as well as a Luke Skywalker from Jabba's Palace. Salacious will need 16,000 backers with Luke Skywalker needing 19,000 backers. Hasbro has retooled Luke from the original 2014 base and includes new butterfly joints
This Kowakian™ monkey-lizard may be small in stature, but its presence is certainly large. In this unlock, The Black Series 6-inch-scale Salacious B. Crumb does not go unnoticed, even on its mini Kenner-inspired cardback. The team drew inspiration for this one from The Vintage Collection’s 2011 San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Salacious B. Crumb figure. Now we’re bringing it to an even more special level by putting it on a cardback celebrating the spirit of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. You can’t find Salacious B. Crumb on a mini cardback anywhere else in the galaxy except here at HasLab.
Everyone’s favorite Jedi Knight, Luke Skywalker, gets a fresh look in this unlock. For the first time in 8 years, this specific Luke Skywalker figure will have a newly sculpted photoreal design. A truly epic addition to any display or collection, and an iconic addition to your Rancor display. Without Luke Skywalker’s death-defying encounter, how would we know the ferocity of the Rancor??? Hopefully we won’t have to find out. Luke comes with a removable soft goods cloak, a blaster, and, of course, a lightsaber. To complete this galactic figure, we’ve put Luke on a classic Power of the Force cardback with a Special Collectors Coin.

About Me : As a child of the '70s and '80s I grew up in a golden age for action figures and in my youth bought and sold myself through collections of Star Wars, G.I. Joe (Action Force), and M.A.S.K. while also dabbling in He-Man, Transformers and Ghostbusters. Roll forward and I am now reliving that Youth with the action figures of today and am a collector and fan of the larger 6-8 inch figures from my favourite movie and TV licenses - including the ones mentioned above, but also the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Who, and the Aliens. I launched The Mephitsu Archives in 2015 with a view of creating a UK-focused site or these figures where fans can pick up the latest action figure news, read reviews and get information on where to buy their figures and what is currently on store shelves. I hope I am delivering that to you guys...
