Wondercon 2024: McFarlane Toys reveals including Movie Maniacs, Music Maniacs, and DC Multiverse

Updated: Mar 31

McFarlane Toys were in attendance for Wondercon 2024 and had a raft of new figures to reveal. At the moment we don't have any official images. A lot of the slides were marked up as 2025 releases - we think some or all of these were an error as the recently announced Plastic-Man wave which is due in stores within a couple of months was also marked as a 2025 release - McFarlane also rarely works that far in advance in terms of promoting new releases.

In the Music Maniacs line the figures of Alice Cooper and Ozzy Osbourne will be joined by Eddie from Iron Maiden, and Rob Zombie.

The Movie Maniacs series will see the arrival of The Matrix and figures of Neo and Trinity. There is also a series of comedy movie releases including The 40-Year-Old Virgin, The Big Lebowski, and Dazed and Confused.

Moving into the DC Multiverse line and there are a number of new waves incoming.

A comic book wave will feature new figures of Mr. Freeze, Ambush Bug, Booster Gold, and Tim Drake Robin.

The Batman movie series will see a new Batman Forever wave of Batman, Robin, Riddler, and Two-Face. The build-a-figure will be the Nightmare Bat. And for the Dark Knight Trilogy, there is a Tumbler on its way with a Lucious Fox figure.

The Collector Edition line will see new figures of Sergeant Rock, Conner Kent Superboy, Manga Batman, Captain Boomerang, Starfire, and Penguin. Three of these were fully revealed the day after the WonderCon Panel.

And in the Digital Series, we have a new wave of Superman, Green Arrow, and Atom. The Digital BAF with the wave (virtual collectible, not an actual figure) is Animal Man.

They also confirmed some new Chase (Platinum Edition) figures of Manhunter, New 52 Reverse Flash, and Sportsmaster

The DC Direct Batman the Animated Series line new additions will include HARDAC, Poison Ivy, Phantasm, Bane, Robot Batman, and Bruce Wayne. We had also seen the new Joker Mobile and Joker Figure previewed ahead of the Wondercon event, this last one we know is a Target-exclusive

About Me : As a child of the '70s and '80s I grew up in a golden age for action figures and in my youth bought and sold myself through collections of Star Wars, G.I. Joe (Action Force), and M.A.S.K. while also dabbling in He-Man, Transformers and Ghostbusters. Roll forward and I am now reliving that Youth with the action figures of today and am a collector and fan of the larger 6-8 inch figures from my favourite movie and TV licenses - including the ones mentioned above, but also the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Who, and the Aliens. I launched The Mephitsu Archives in 2015 with a view of creating a UK-focused site or these figures where fans can pick up the latest action figure news, read reviews and get information on where to buy their figures and what is currently on store shelves. I hope I am delivering that to you guys...
